Quick meals: Spaghetti Bolognese

Spaghetti Bolognese in my favourite bowl

This is one of my favourite quick meals that takes little effort and tastes amazing. I think everyone has a different way of making it, I don't use any tomato sauce or passata in mine because I don't like an overly soupy texture.

Ingredients and How to:
400gm Quorn mine or mine meat
As much spaghetti as you can eat
1 chunk of butter
1 Onion, finally chopped
2 Cloves of garlic, crushed
1 Tomato, chopped
Parmesan (Optional)
A dash of cumin
Salt to season
Heat a large pot (large! I always use a pot which is too small and create a mess) of water and add the pasta with a sprinkle of salt. While that's cooking, heat a frying pan with a little oil and fry the garlic until brown. Add the onion and fry until transparent then add the mince and cumin. Flip around the pan for a few minutes then add the tomato and leave to cook for about 10 minutes.. Taste and season. If you feel its too dry for your taste, add some tomato puree. Enjoy!

Oops almost forgot about the spaghetti, drain and throw into a huge bowl with a chunk of butter.. Add the mince and sprinkle with Parmesan. Enjoy, seriously this time.

  1. This is a simple and yummy dish indeed. I end up making something similar to this for my supper and some days I add the spaghetti in and cook in together with the mince so that the spaghetti is more flavourful.

    1. Thanks for the idea! I do mix the sauce with pasta and give it a little sizzle when I make a carbonara but I never thought of it with a bolognese. Doh!

  2. I'm always looking for super easy meals for weeknights...the last thing I want to ever do is cook a giant meal and clean a ton of dishes after a long day at work.

I dont eat wheat anymore (and pasta is what I miss the most!) but I'd like to try this over spaghetti squash!

    1. Haha I'll be honest, thats the first time I've heard of spaghetti squash and I googled it, its really interesting actually. I'll have a go at making it, all I've ever done with squash is well, squash it into a mash.
There are loads of gluten/wheat free pasta out there like this http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=261052544&sc_cmp=pcp_GSF_63450367, maybe you could try some? I find them very similar, just a bit harder than normal pasta.
